Health Challenges among the Children
Our School Health Program has transformed many schools into thriving, healthy, and active environments.
Here are some of our success stories:
Heart-related issues Childhood Obesity Respiratory Infections:
Heart-related issues in
children can include
congenital heart defects
(present at birth) and
acquired heart conditions.
Data from various studies and
healthcare organizations in
India indicate that congenital
heart defects occur in
approximately 8-10 per 1,000
live births.
Childhood obesity is a
significant risk factor for the
development of type 2
diabetes in children.
The National Family Health
Survey (NFHS) 2019-20
reported that 5.7% of children
aged 5-9 years and 7.3% of
adolescents aged 10-19 years
were overweight or obese in
India..
Common respiratory
infections, including asthma
and bronchitis, affect a
significant percentage of
school children.
Dental Problems:
Dental issues, such as
cavities and gum disease, are
widespread among school
children. Dental issues, like
cavities, affect an estimated
60-90% of school children
worldwide.
Mental Health Issues
Mental health conditions,
including anxiety and depression,
affect about 10-20% of children
and adolescents.
Vision and Hearing
Problems
Around 18-20% of school children
may have vision problems, and
12- 13% may have hearing
impairments.
